2003 Alumni Spotlight

Nancy Blair (’93, ’95) is the director of the BYU Hearing Clinic. She is currently directing a federal grant to develop and evaluate an early literacy intervention program for children in Head Start Programs. She went to Viet Nam in 2002, to supervise graduate students working with Dr. David McPherson’s hearing screening service project. She also did some scuba diving in Thailand.

Dr. Tina Taylor Dyches (’86) is an associate professor in the Educational Psychology and Special Education Department. Her research and publications focus on the subjects of family adaptation to disability, children’s literature with characters who have severe disabilities, and effective treatment and instruction for students with autism and other severe disabilities. She has recently received a grant to study adaptation in families with children with orthopedic impairments.

Dr. Gordon Gibb (’88) is an assistant professor in the Counseling Psychology and Special Education department. His research interests include use of technology in IEP development, diverse needs in secondary schools, and reading for students with disabilities. He serves as an advisor to the Student Council for Exceptional Children.

Lee Robinson (’92, ’94) is the director of the BYU Speech and Language Clinic. She went to Viet Nam in 2002, to supervise graduate students working with Dr. David McPherson’s hearing screening service project and to give a week(?) long presentation to a group of Vietnamese physicians regarding aural rehabilitation for cochlear implant recipients. She also did some scuba diving in Thailand.

Lee Ann Setzer (’87, ’90), has recently accepted a position as editor of this newsletter, together with her husband Steve. Lee Ann is also the author of Gathered: A Novel of Ruth.
