McKay School of Education Emeriti: Honoring Life-Long Service
Distinguished professors, scholars, and staff of the McKay School of Education who have retired are all emeritus members of the McKay School of Education family. These distinguised educators prepared students for careers in education and produced research and writing that significantly contributed to success in achieving the mission of the McKay School of Education, and we honor them here.
Emeriti Committee Chairperson: Dr. Nancy Livingston
We welcome the enthusiasm and expertise of Dr. Nancy Livingston, the McKay School of Education Emeriti Committee Chair.
Dr. Livingston is an expert in reading, known around the world for her scholarship in the field of children's literature. As a writer for the International Reading Association journal The Reading Teacher, Nancy Livingston has written scores of articles on children's literature. Her work is published in many other professional venues as well. She is respected and sought after worldwide as a speaker and presenter.
She is currently the director of the Brigham Young University/Public School Partnership Balanced Literacy Project and an associate professor of elementary education. She has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Utah, Utah State University, and Westminster College. Dr. Livingston earned an MEd in Reading Education from the University of Utah and a PhD in Educational Administration from BYU. She has received numerous awards honoring her excellence in teaching, her most recent being the McKay School of Education/Benjamin Cluff, Jr. Award for Distinguished Educator in 2007.
