Arts Academy

Arts Academy has been developed by the BYU A.R.T.S. Partnership (1) to help teachers develop their skills and confidence for

teaching the arts and (2) to instruct them in ways that the arts can be integrated with other curricular areas so that teaching the

arts can be an enhancement to, not a diversion from, subjects such as reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies.

A series of five two-day workshops are held at varied locations. These will include interactive sessions with arts professors and

opportunities for self-reflection. In addition, participants receive the following:

  • Two days of professional mentoring in the classroom

  • A $300 stipend for implementing their new ideas and skills

  • Opportunities to report on their experience and receive feedback from fellow participants

  • A "Principal Day" to collaboratively develop a school impact plan

  • BYU credit if desired

Sessions will focus on the following topics:

  • Personal Artistry (developing participants’ own skills)

  • Leadership and Advocacy (Including Principal Day)
  • Nurturing Pedagogy in the Arts
  • Arts Integration across the Curriculum
  • Putting it all together
