Final Assignment: Last Session April

Please prepare a one page written reflection of your experiences in Arts Academy this year. Please include reflection on how your participation in Arts Academy has impacted you personally, your classroom and your school. Submit this by email. Post it on the BLOG in its entirety or just the parts you want to share publicly.

Also prepare a 10 minute presentation for your grade level peers to be presented Friday afternoon during our final session. Each of you will have 15 minutes to present to a small group, which includes time for questions from your peers.

Prepare and submit your grant expenditure report.

Submit your PSA. We plan to compile these onto a disk for everyone. Please let Cally know if you do not want yours included.

Before session 4  in March
Finish the storyboard for your PSA that promotes the arts, your classroom, your curriculum, your students or that you that you could use at parent teacher conferences. Collect all of the images that you will need for your PSA (you can upload these images to your blog so that we can access them in class – or bring them on a USB drive if you prefer.)
Collect any other resources (music, video, etc.) that you might want to use in your PSA
We will spend the entire time this session using your storyboard and movie making software to actually create your PSAs! (remember that you can contact charles.graham@byu.edu or 422-4110 anytime if you get stuck) You can bring your own computers or use the ones in the BYU lab.

Before Session 3 in January

Please read the first 3 chapters of Creating Meaning through Literature and the Arts by Claudia Cornett. Then glance throught the rest of the book in your own time. Please do something from that material in your classroom and write an implementation report on the blog.

Bring  photos and samples of student work for your PSA.

Before Session 2 October 20,21

Read: Breaking the Learning Barrier for Under Achieving Students by George Nelson

Invite your Principal to Principal Day October 21. Have your principal take the “color test” before you come.

Implement something you learned during our last session into your classroom. Write a description and reflection on your experience. Post it on the Arts Academy Blog. This might include drawing a still life, using dramatic elements to augment a lesson, doing the Brain Dance or many other things.
