Mentored Research
Requested Research Involvement
Research is needed in the area of elementary arts education to improve instruction and practice for both university students and practicing teachers. In addition to encouraging this kind of research the BYU A.R.T.S. Partnership is offering a research grant to qualified researchers to be used to hire a BYU student to assist with data collection, analysis, and other areas deemed appropriate.
Samples of Appropriate Types of Research
The following are examples only and should not be considered limiting.
- Meta-analyses or literature reviews on topics such as benefits of arts involvement on cognitive development or impact of arts involvement on reading
- Theory into practice research on aspects of arts integration or interactive effects of arts on curricular areas such as literacy, mathematics, science, or social studies
- Action research by classroom teachers, field initiated or under cooperative agreement
- Assessment/evaluation studies on BYU A.R.T.S. Partnership projects
