Purpose

Assessment is a key part of any education program. Students in the Teacher Education programs at Brigham Young University complete several core assessments during their schooling including the following:
- Clinical Practice Assessments System (CPAS)
- Teacher Work Sample (TWS)
- Candidate Disposition Scale (CDS)
- Professional and Interpersonal Behavior Scale (PIBS)
The assessments are given at various times (admissions, pre-clinical, and clinical) throughout the program.
CDS, CPAS, PIBS, and TWS are the four core assessments analyzed in the semester and annual reports. All reports are created to empower stakeholders with the information they need to improve the educational program and enhance student learning. Semester and annual reports are created for all teacher education programs, which include the following:
- Elementary Education (ELED)
- Early Childhood Education (ECE)
- Special Education (SPED)
- Secondary Education (SCED) programs.
