The Research Experience for Teachers is designed to offer secondary science teachers in the U.S., and especially in CITES, research opportunities at Brigham Young University during their summer break. Science teachers who qualify for the program participate in up to 10 weeks (time is flexible) of research and individual and group faculty mentoring from the Brigham Young University College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Secondary teachers will interact in groups with undergraduates who are participating in a similar program (Research Experiences for Undergraduates). Participating teachers receive stipends (amount dependent on experience and time commitment) for their research participation, and equipment is given to teachers for use in their own classrooms. The Research Experience for Teachers is operated by the BYU College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. It is supported by funds from the National Science Foundation, the Brigham Young University Office of Research, and the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
