B.S. Program: Admission Information
Application
Prerequisite: CPSE 400 (Exceptional Students) must be completed prior to applying to the special education program, along with 20 hours of volunteer work--10 hours each in a mild/moderate and a severe disabilities setting.
Preference will be given to applicants with
- 60 or more general education credit hours completed before beginning the program,
- experience working with individuals with disabilities (special education exploratory experience),
- commitment to the profession of special education, or
- a declared pre-special education major.
Timing: Students who are accepted must enter the program the semester for which they applied. Those who are planning on serving a mission at the time at the time they apply should specify the first semester they will be back.
Each applicant may apply twice.
Applicants must commit to taking all coursework in sequence as listed, including Spring/Summer terms. This is a program in which each student is assigned to a cohort that takes all courses together in the outlined sequence, and deviation from this sequence is not permitted.
Important Dates
The program starts Fall Semester of each year.
All Student Teaching/Internship applications are due in the MSE Student Services Office (room 120MCKB) on February 15th by 5:00pm.
All admission forms are due to the Special Education secretary (room 340MCKB) February 24th by 5:00 p.m.
