Special Education Faculty Position Information

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY

COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY AND SPECIAL EDUCATION

DAVID O. McKAY SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate degree in special education or related field. ABD may be considered.
  • K-12 school teaching experience
  • Record of, or potential for high quality university-based instruction
  • Record of, or potential for rigorous scholarship
  • An understanding of the current literature, trends, and issues in special education

Desired Area of Specialization:

  • Moderate to severe disabilities

Other Desirable Areas of Expertise:

  • Multicultural special education
  • Secondary education including transition
  • Research design and statistics
  • Collaboration
  • Assistive technology

Preference will be given to applicants who evidence:

  • A history of successful collaboration with colleagues, other university faculty members, and public school personnel
  • Skills and dispositions to supervise and mentor university students

Responsibilities:

  • Teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
  • Develop or continue a line of research directed at moderate to severe disabilities
  • Provide meaningful university and professional service
  • Supervise student teachers, interns, and other student field work

Salary: Based on credentials and experience

Beginning Date: August 2008
