Qualifications:
- An earned master's degree in special education or related field
- K-12 school teaching experience
- Record of or potential for high quality university instruction and supervision
- Record of or potential for service to the university and to the profession
- An understanding of the current literature, trends, and issues in special education
Desired Area of Specialization: Mild to moderate disabilities
Other Desirable Areas of Expertise:
- Multicultural special education
- Direct instruction
- Curriculum-based assessment
- Collaboration
Additional Qualifications for Which Preference Will Be Given:
- A history of successful collaboration with colleagues, other university faculty members, and public school personnel
- Skills and dispositions to supervise and mentor university students
Responsibilities:
- Teach and mentor undergraduate students
- Administer the mild/moderate summer practicum, including supervising site coordinators and mentor teachers
- Provide meaningful university and professional service
- Supervise student teachers, interns, and other student field work
- Work collaboratively with the local districts in planning for and implementing the summer practicum
Salary: Based on credentials and experience
