David O. McKay School of Education (MSE) Private Scholarships and TH Bell Teacher Incentive Loan
Over 40 different privately donated scholarships.
Criteria vary: GPA, needs, hometown, major, dependent children, etc.
Scholarships are offered Fall/Winter Semesters.
Full-time undergraduates and graduates pursuing a teaching career and are officially admitted to a teaching program at BYU or any MSE program.
Part-time undergraduates may not apply.
MSE scholarships are primarily need based and are intended to defray the cost of tuition. As such, students receiving full tuition in the form of grants, scholarships, and financial support from family, friends, relatives, federal, state, or local government agencies, or from BYU or any BYU department or organization are discouraged from applying for a MSE scholarship. (Exceptions are considered for students enrolled in student teaching or internship.)
To be considered for a MSE scholarship, students must be admitted into a teaching program or other MSE program. Undergraduates must carry 14 or more credit hours unless in a student teaching or internship program. Graduates must carry 2 or more credit hours. However, the amount awarded to graduates will be commensurate with the credits carried. The following criteria also apply to both graduates and undergraduates:
the student’s account must be free of any holds and in good standing
the student must maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA (a student's extenuating circumstances may be included in their need essay)
April 30, 2008 -- Application Deadline (applications received after this date will not be considered without prior approval)
