Association Organization and Committee Meetings

Leadership Committee

This committee is made up of four paid students - a President and three Vice Presidents. These students decide on activities and projects to pursue, organize those projects, manage and guide the association membership, and serve as liaisons to other organizations and groups that work with the association. This committee is counseled and guided by a faculty advisor.

Public Relations Committee

The Public Relations committee seeks to establish and develop relationships with the various multiculturally relevant clubs, Multicultural Student Services, the Dean of the School of Education, and hopes to form many more connections throughout BYU and the Provo community. We also are involved in advertising for Association events, designing Association publications, and gathering information for our website.

Recruitment and Retention Committee

This committee is about recruitment. We hope to get involved with the Multicultural Student Services’ open houses and recruitment efforts. We work with the Activities Committee in promoting involvement opportunities and are also in charge of membership. We will be designing material for the MSE plasma screen to show the multicultural aspects of the School of Education. Our primary function is designing and maintaining the website.

Activities Committee

Members of this committee are working to plan activities such as our diversity discussions, service activities, retreats, and the occasional Association festivity. Our main events are the monthly Diversity Discussions for which the Activities Committee invites a guest to briefly speak on an applicable subject of needed awareness before opening the floor to discussion. This committee is in charge of the preparation of discussion pamphlets containing additional information on the subject.

Project Development Meetings

What are Project Development Meetings?

These meetings are opportunities for students to become agents for change in the School of Education and the Community. At these weekly meetings, each committee decides on projects to pursue and develops plans for carrying projects out. Committee members can simply help in planning and decision-making or can accept assignments to be performed at their leisure during the week.
