BYU/Public School Partnership ESL Endorsement

As the number of non-native English-speaking students in public schools increases, the need for qualified teachers of English as a second language also grows.  In order to help meet these needs, BYU, in collaboration with its Public School Partnership, has developed an innovative ESL endorsement for both preservice and inservice teachers.  This endorsement prepares teachers to work with linguistically and culturally diverse students in the regular classroom through pedagogic practices that are effective for all learners.  Completion of the courses by undergraduates results in a TESOL K-12 minor as well as the ESL endorsement and attaches to a teaching license.  Completion of the courses by practicing teachers results in an ESL endorsement.
