Participation Instructions

Following is a timeline with specific steps and deadlines for participating in the competition.

Step 1 - Attend information session (January 11th at 11 am in 185 MCKB)

At this time details will be presented and teams will have the opportunty to ask questions about the educational challenges which are the content options for the designs. Pizza will  be served until it runs out--come early!

Step 2 - Register (by February 18)

Each team should organize itself and indicate its intent to participate in the competition by completing the online registration form by midnight on February 18th.

Step 3 - Work in design teams to create an innovative learning experience

Between November 30 and March 18 each team will design an innovative solution to one of the designated educational challenges, and create any materials needed to implement the plan. Resources to help with the design can be found on this site.

Step 4 - Submit entry (by March 18)

Entries must be submitted by completing the online submission form by 11:59 pm on March 18th, 2011. All submission requirements must be complete for the entry to be considered in the competition.

Step 5 - Expect finalists to be announced March 25

The panel of judges will review submissions and decide by March 25 which teams will move forward to the final round of the competition. An email announcing the finalists will be sent to all participants.

Step 6 - Prepare final presentations and attend awards ceremony (March 31)

Finalists will be asked to make an 8-minute live presentation followed by questions and answers before a panel of judges on March 31. The judging panel will announce the contest winners later the same day.

Step 7 - Participate in the McKay School Mentored Research Conferenece (April 5th)

Winners will display their video and be present to answer questions at the McKay School Mentored Research Conference
