I began my career as a kindergarten teacher after completing my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education. I earned a Master's Degree in Teacher Education and worked as an adjunct faculty member at Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University. After completing my PhD in Educational Inquiry, Measurement, and Evaluation, I became an Assistant Professor of Teacher Education in the McKay School of Education at Brigham Young University. My husband and I reside in Provo, Utah and are the parents of three children.
I teach courses in the Early Childhood Education program at Brigham Young University including an Early Childhood Methods course and a planning and assessment course. I also oversee the field experiences of the students in our program.
I am currently interested in how early childhood educators are using technology in their classrooms and how they are teaching emergent digital literacies to their students. I am also interested in how informational texts are used in prek-2nd grade classrooms.
