Graduate Degree Level
Changing your degree level involves four steps:
- Obtaining a Form 1C "Request to Change Graduate Degree Level" from the department secretary.
- Filling out the student portion completely and submitting it to the department for review.
- If the request is approved, attaching a $30 nonrefundable fee (checks should be made out to Brigham Young University).
- Delivering the form to Graduate Studies (105 FPH) by the application deadline.
Note: If you are a non-U. S. applicant, you are required to complete additional application materials and must be cleared by the International Admissions Office before any review can take place. The Office of Graduate Studies can give you assistance.
When to Follow This Procedure
You would need to use the Form 1C "Request to Change Graduate Degree Level" in the following situations:
- Move to a higher degree without receiving the lower degree first.
- Move to a lower degree without receiving the higher degree.
- Move on from a Master's to Doctorate in the same department.
- Move on to a M.A. TESL Program.
This form should only be used when you wish to change from one degree to another within the Department of Instructional Psychology and Technology. If you wish to change to a different department, you need to submit a new application for graduate study.
