1. What are the system requirements for using LiveText?
These requirements are simple and can be found on the LiveText website by clicking here. LiveText recommends the use of a Mozilla Firefox internet browser.
2. How can I get a LiveText Account?
If you are applying to the CPSE, ELED, or ECE major, check our calendar for the next available orientation. If you are a SCED major, don't worry. Once you get into the program, you will register with your 276 class. A LiveText orientation takes about 45 min.
3. How much does a LiveText account cost?
BYU currently pays for each account...at around 70 dollars per student! It's the equivalent of a free text book.
4. I forgot my username and/or password, and I need to log into LiveText today in order to upload my Teacher Work Sample that is due tomorrow! I know that I can email LiveText, but that can take up to 24 hours. How can I get the information I need immediately?
Call the number for LiveText support listed on the website, on the right hand column, when you click "Technical Support" from the main page. Tell them your situation and they will be happy to help you.
5. I just got married. Is it necessary for me to change my name on LiveText?
Yes! Changing your name in LiveText will prevent unnecessary delays in adding you to class lists and clearing you for graduation. To change your name on LiveText just log into your current LiveText account. You will see at the bottom right hand corner of the screen a link called Contact us at support@livetext.com. Go to the link and notify them of your recent name change.
6. According to my professor, I'm supposed to fill out a number of forms on LiveText but when I go into Forms under Tools I can't find any of the forms that I am supposed to take.
Contact a member of the BYU Data management team (422-1190) as soon as possible and they will ensure that you get all of the necessary forms.
7. My teacher wants me to send her my Teacher Work sample through LiveText but I don't know how to send it.
Click here for instructions on how to attach your TWS.
8. I'm supposed to electronically sign my CPAS evaluation over LiveText but when I click on the form nothing shows up for the scores. How can I sign my CPAS if I cannot see my scores?
Try this:
- Make sure that your evaluator has finished inputting your scores into LiveText. Remember, it typically takes the LiveText team 24 hours to make your professor's scores available for you to see on LiveText.
- Click on the "click here to view multiple submissions" link at the top of your form. Your professor's evaluation will appear in the grayed-out fields. To sign the form, simply scroll to the bottom and fill in the last three fields.
If this doesn't work, please call the Data Management team (422-1190) and they will help you.
9. Where can I go for more help?
Check out the Video Podcasts located on the BYU LiveText website by going to the Student Help link. Accompanying each video cast is a "How To" word document, complete with color photos. You can also access the tutorials on the LiveText website by clicking the "Help" button in the top right corner, after logging into your account. As always, you can come into the TEC Lab (Room 180 MCKB) and a member of the Data Management team would love to help.
