Joseph Anderson, one of David O. McKay's students, said of him: "He was easily the greatest schoolteacher that remained with me all my life . . . He also won the love and admiration of the students by the way he taught us some of the English classics. He taught them in such a way that showed his great love for them and made them so come to life for us that few if us ever forget them. I shall never forget the beauty of such literature as "The Lady of the Lake" and "The Princess" as taught to us by him."
