At an afternoon session of conference in October of 1958, each preceding speaker had expressed his love and testimony of David O. McKay. He hadn't intended to speak on that occasion, but acknowledged the love that speakers had conveyed. David O. McKay then said he was especially thankful for his mother. "I would speak of her if the depth of my emotions were not too great to allow it," he said. The prophet then wept quietly. No description can express his stature or his sweetness in those moments.
