A New Service Role
Associate chair appointed in EdLF
At the beginning of September, Scott Ferrin, a professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations (EdLF), accepted the appointment as associate chair for the department.
Associate chair is a new position in the EdLF department of the McKay School of Education. The specific duties of the position are evolving, but Ferrin said his primary role is to support department chair Sterling Hilton. “This gives me a chance to look at his priorities and strengthen him in any way he needs, especially as he is doing a lot of good primary research,” Ferrin said.
Ferrin joined the McKay School in 1997. He earned master’s and doctorate degrees in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from Harvard and has a Juris Doctorate from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU. Currently, he is the chair of the Education Doctorate program.
Ferrin said he is looking forward to the opportunity to serve the McKay School in this new capacity. “I’m grateful for the chance to serve my colleagues and make sure our department is healthy and grows over the years,” he said. “I am also grateful for the chance to really support an excellent department chair who has a lot on his plate.”
