The McKay School of Education has appointed Dr. Cade Charlton, associate professor, as chair of the Department of Counseling Psychology and Special Education (CPSE). Dean Sarah K. Clark announced the appointment earlier this month. Dr. Charlton succeeds Dr. Ellie Young, who has been named associate dean of the McKay School. The school extends its appreciation to Dr. Young for her dedicated leadership in CPSE and looks forward to her continued contributions in her new role.
A native of St. Anthony, Idaho, Dr. Charlton is the son of two career educators. He earned both his MBA and PhD from Utah State University and is a board-certified behavior analyst. His teaching interests include assessment of exceptional students, collaboration in special education, classroom management, and principles of behavior analysis. His research focuses on identifying evidence-based practices and developing organizational supports that enable schools to implement those practices effectively within multi-tiered systems of supports.
