2004 Faculty & Staff Spotlight
Roxanna Johnson recently accepted a position as an administrative assistant to the Dean. She will work primarily with public relations and communications by chairing a School of Education Public Affairs Committee. She also chairs the CITES Resource Committee and assists with grant writing.
Roxanna Johnson formerly worked as the grant facilitator for Nebo School District, with responsibilities for overseeing all district grant proposals and planning. In this position she also engaged in training teachers, reviewing grant proposals, and coordinating with the BYU Public School Partnership and CITES. Prior to working for Nebo District, Roxanna worked as an editor and writer for a local newspaper. She has also written radio scripts and done some freelance writing. Mrs. Johnson, her husband Mark, and their four children enjoy spending time outdoors and skiing together.
In August, Betty Ashbaker provided training to 30 teachers and their paraprofessionals in the Dallas Independent School District under a special initiative to develop teacher-paraprofessional training and supervision strategies. She was invited to co-author an article on legal issues regarding paraprofessionals for the newsletter of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), which has a circulation of 30,000 school administrators.
Martin Fujiki received the Frank R. Kleffner Lifetime Clinical Career Award from the Utah Speech-Language-Hearing Association in March, 2004, for demonstrating significant contributions to clinical science and practice over a 20-year+ career.
