Vocabulary develops by knowing the names of things and understanding their meaning.

SEEL strives to expand children’s vocabulary both orally and in print. Some of SEEL objectives in developing children’s vocabulary are:

  • Children will understand the meaning of new words when introduced in context.

  • Children can read common primer and pre-primer sight words.

SEEL’s activities and lessons are designed to engage children in learning new words. Some methods used to teach vocabulary are:

  • Introducing new words in activities.

  • Portraying new words with pictures, actions, experiences, or play.

Providing opportunity for children to play with new words.
