Request to Conduct Research Form

If your proposal has been approved by district administrators, you will receive an email confirming your request to conduct research in the school district. University students are required to pay a $100 fee to each district to conduct research. This fee will be fully refunded once you submit a summary of your research findings to the district.

Faculty and students who intend to conduct research in one of the BYU-Public School Partnership school districts must obtain approval from the school district prior to beginning their study. This is the order of how to apply for BYU and district approval.

  1. Engage in conversations with school district personnel regarding your study, assuring that it meets district needs as well as BYU needs.
  2. Attain written support from the appropriate district administrator (e.g., school principal, special education director).
  3. Attach the letter(s) of support to your BYU Institutional Review Board proposal.
  4. After receiving approval from BYU IRB, complete and submit this “Request to Conduct Research Form.” Attach your BYU IRB approval. Your request will be sent directly to the district administrator responsible for approving research studies.
