Technology Skills Assessment - Spreadsheets

To successfully complete this task, you must be able to complete the skills shown below. A sample task is also provided so you can practice the skills before taking the technology assessment. You may complete the task on your own or you may choose to go through our step by step tutorial. The content and data needed for this assignment will be provided as well.

To successfully complete this task, you must be able to complete the skills shown below. A sample task is also provided so you can practice the skills before taking the technology assessment. Since you will only be evaluated on your ability to complete the tasks listed below, content has been provided to help you save time.

Use a spreadsheet to create a gradebook for your class. Then create a graph to show the grade breakdown by assignment. It should look identical to the example shown on the right (same layout, colors, font, etc). You can use the data for the spreadsheet provided (to help you save time). When you are finished, save your spreadsheet as a file called "class_grades.xls". Make sure you include the following elements:

  • Formatting as shown (light blue cell background, spreadsheet font face Verdana 10 point black font, "Class Grades" Verdana 14 pt black font with bold, column headings Verdana 10 point black with bold, "Math 9, Period 2" Arial 12 point black font with bold - pie graph font specifications are listed below).
  • A formula to calculate the percentage and total points earned
  • A formula to calculate the total class average
  • A pie graph that shows the grade breakdown for the total points possible (cells C7 to F7) by percentage
  • Pie graph title using "Verdana" 14 point font
  • Pie graph lables using "Verdana" 10 point font
