Area of Discipline / Professional Expertise
  • Teacher preparation and professional development
Research
  • Stories of the Eight Year Study was published in 2007. Counternarratives: Studies of Teacher Education and Becoming and Being a Teacher, a collection of essays, is now in press, also with SUNY Press. Two of the essays are new, the others, although previously published, are. Several studies are underway on a variety of topics. Perhaps the most important are the on-going value-added state-wide project seeking to connect pupil learning to teacher education programs and a study that is in the very early stages of secondary education in America. Pieces have recently been completed on teacher and mentor emotions, the cognitive complexity of beginning teachers, the formation of professional learning communities, and on the study of teacher lives.
