UJET Overview
The Utah Journalism and Education Team is a group of educators, journalists and PR professionals who build understanding between educators and journalists. Founded in 2005, UJET is supported by the BYU-Public School Partnership and its affiliates: the David O. McKay School of Education, the Center for the Improvement of Teacher Education Schooling, and the BYU Department of Communications.
UJET meets regularly to train journalists, educators, spokespersons, administrators, and PTA and school board members across Utah. These trainings strengthen relationships between media and education organizations and increase community understanding and participation.
Goals & Purpose
UJET members will provide forums and training to build collaboration between journalists and educators in order to accomplish the following goals:
-
Increased understanding and awareness between educators and journalists
-
Strengthened relationships within the two industries
-
Increased community understanding and participation within public schools
What People Are Saying
"So often we go to meetings where we hear about great ideas, but we go back to our offices and those things go no where. This is an idea that has legs and proven results. We have taken advantage of several UJET trainings and the feedback from training has been consistently high.”
-Vern Henshaw, Alpine School District Superintendent
