"Schools Bank on Good Publicity" Article - Citing that the majority of news on the Boston public school system is negative in nature, officials for the school system are spending over $520,000 on communications in 2007 (a 69 percent increase from than previous year) to spread the word on the successes of Boston's public schools. The money, which includes private grants, will pay for two new employees, cable television to broadcast the school committee's meetings and other city school programs, and other initiatives. Officials hope the new program will correct outdated and inaccurate information about city schools and spotlight the system's achievements. |
