Teachers Pay Teachers

A resource for lesson planning veterans and beginning teachers

If you ever feel that you are running low on ideas for your classroom, there are many online resources you can turn to.TeacherView.com, DiscoveryEducation.com/teachers/ and thinkfinity.org all are packed with videos, games, and crafts that can be used in the classroom to help supplement your material. TeachersPayTeachers.com not only has free classroom materials available but also allows you to buy whole lesson plans or even sell your own.

Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT) is an open online marketplace like eBay, only it's dedicated to provide teaching materials. At the site teachers buy and sell educational materials in downloadable formats. Additionally, teachers can now buy and sell hard goods. By October 2010, the site attracted over 300,000 registered users and 80,000+ original teaching resources. Many teachers are earning supplemental income on the site.

Teachers simply need to register at teacherspayteachers.com. It is free to sign up, and the site has over 40,000 pieces of content that are free to download right away. This basic membership also allows a user to start selling materials at no extra cost.

TpT’s mission is to empower teachers by bringing together those who create curriculum with those who are seeking fresh new approaches in the classroom. It can be a great opportunity for those teachers who work hard on their lesson plans to receive a little more compensation for their work. Also, newer teachers and those looking for ideas can save time and leap ahead in competency by learning from veterans. TpT believes “that the ensuing exchange lifts all boats and leads to the better sharing of the best practices.” In the end everyone wins, especially the students.
