School Leadership Program Tracks

School Leadership Program Tracks

The recommended program schedule for coursework is indicated below for each of the two tracks (part-time and accelerated). The school leadership class schedules for a given semester/term are posted when registration opens and provide specific days and times that courses are offered.

ExSL Track Schedule

The ExSL schedule is designed for students who do NOT already have a Master’s degree and want to receive a Utah administrative license. This track starts in spring term each year and takes approximately fourteen months (5 terms/semesters). Students in this track are required to complete at least 200 hours of administrative internship. To be considered for admittance to this track, applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Earned a Bachelor's degree
  • Have at least three years of teaching experience
  • Taken the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)

Accelerated Preparation Program Track

The Accelerated Preparation Program (APP) is designed for students who already have a master’s degree and want to receive a Utah administrative license. Students admitted to this track take fewer courses (up to six credits fewer), and still complete the required 200-hour internship and earn a second master's degree. Coursework and internships are designed to be completed in 12 to 14 months. Those interested in the APP application option do not need to submit graduate exam scores in order to be admitted, but will fill out the same graduate studies application as ExSL candidates.

To be considered for admittance to this track, applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Earned a Master's degree
