Four Doctoral Students Honored

Bill Gates predicted, “As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.”

The Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations recently honored four current doctoral students who are becoming such leaders.

These Doctoral Recognition Awards were given to recognize students’ excellence in academic performance, positive engagement in the program, and proven effectiveness as leaders. The recipients were honored at a luncheon with the EdLF faculty in the BYU Skyroom, at which they received plaques and scholarships ranging between $300 and $500.

This year’s winners were Joe Jensen, principal of Orem Junior High School; Blaine Edman, technology director for Alpine School District; Tyler Howe, principal of Neil Armstrong Academy; and Shane Farnsworth, director of all junior high schools in the Alpine School District.

The EdLF Department is extremely proud of these students and honors the contributions they are making to the schools and school districts in which they are employed.
