Bari spent her early years in Texas and Utah. She attended the BYU lab school and BY High (BYU’s former professional development schools) for grades eight through 12. Bari had always wanted to be a teacher, so the summer after high school she enrolled at BYU in elementary education.
After graduating, she got her first teaching assignment in Nebo School District teaching 38 sixth graders. She and her husband then moved to Wyoming, where she taught the primary grades and earned her MEd through Utah State University. Returning to Utah, she taught for 11 years in the Provo School District.
After a total of 30 years of teaching, Bari retired this summer with plans to create educational materials for children. She is the wife of Barry Olson and the mother of seven children.
