Stacy always loved to read; math, however, was a struggle. At BYU a patient instructor taught her the basic concepts of math and ways to teach them. From that experience of love and concern she learned the importance of knowing the subject and also knowing and caring for individual students. Stacy began teaching the Monday after she graduated from BYU.
She went on to earn a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in language and literacy from ASU in 2007. After seven years of teaching upper elementary grades, Stacy became the reading specialist at Pedro Guerrero
Elementary in Mesa, Arizona. She loves reading, writing, quilting, and working on ways to help students become better readers. She advises teachers to let their students know of their excitement for learning.
