  • A real tree, a tree made out of paper,* or a picture of a tree*
  • Flee from a Bee target text*

State the Objective
The children will play a game called Flee, Bee! and will read and write ee words, such as flee, see, bee, and tree
 
Literacy Activities
Flee from a bee

  • Hold three fingers together like a bee and tell the children that you will be the "bee.
  • Take the children to a tree, a tree made of paper, or a picture of a tree (see below).
  • Buzz like a bee and approach the children. 
  • When you come near, have them wave their arms and say, "Flee, bee!"
     

Read target words

  • Read the Flee from a Bee target text (see below) as a group.
  • Underline all the ee words found in the text.

Write about the activity 

  • Have the children write ee words from dictation (e.g., peek, feel, need, seek, greet, meet, flee, see, bee, need, tree, free).
  • Let the children help fill in sentence frames:
    • I ___ (see) a ___ (bee).
    • The ___ (bee) is in a ___(tree).
    • I don't want to ___ (meet) a ___ (bee).
    • I ___ (need) to ___ (flee).
