Where are you from?

Grew up in Orem, then Chicagoland & NJ's NYC suburbs

What and where have you studied?

I was originally a music major at College of Eastern Utah (now USU - Eastern), where I also took early childhood education courses.

Where have you previously worked?

I've done everything from Windows 95 tech support to industrial air compressor technician dispatch & support for NYC/NJ. In-between, I got to volunteer at my children's school library, help their PTO go digital for their directory & shout-out submissions, and assist a state-level women's non-profit with their newsletter & host their national convention. One of my (other) favorite jobs has been to work with my mom at the Orem Parent Education Resource Center before it was run by the Orem City Library.

What is your current job title? Please describe what you do in that position.

I'm the CPSE Office Specialist--I take care of the CPSE course/faculty/room schedule & textbooks, edit CPSE webpages, support undergrad & grad Educator efforts, help compile accreditation data, and support SpEd undergraduate program.

Why did you choose to work at BYU?

We grew up very attached to BYU--parents' Alma Matter, football games, music performances, and the 'Y' on the mountain. I didn't end up going to college here, but when I relocated on my own, this is where I applied.

What is your favorite thing about the McKay School?

Improving the capability to benefit children's lives.

Growing up, what teacher inspired you the most? How?

I had a few great elementary school teachers and an awesome band teacher throughout high school, but my favorite teachers are my parents and their examples.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

My kids & my new marriage. Also, being co-chair for the 42nd year of the science-fiction & fantasy Life, the Universe, and Everything Symposium for 1,400 people (30% of which are students of all ages) in February 2024.

What was the first career you dreamed of having as a kid?

Being a mother--which is still a blessing, even with adult children.

Do you collect anything?

I have a curio--along with art, blankets, movies, and random references--of horses.

If you could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Lasagna

What is your go-to weeknight meal?

Noodles or pizza

Where could we find you on most Saturday mornings?

In Life, the Universe, and Everything Symposium committee meetings.

Where is your favorite place to go on vacation?

So far, my favorite place to go is the little pioneer settlement where my mom grew up.
