Utah Conference on Undergraduate Research (UCUR)
Each year students and mentors from across Utah gather to share academic, research, and creative activities with oral presentations and posters. Southern Utah University is hosting the conference in 2018, and MSE students and their mentors are encouraged to participate. BYU will cover the expense of the conference registration and transportation (chartered bus) for all students presenting as well as for any faculty mentors who attend.

McKay School of Education 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Presentation Competition

Competition date: February 28, 2017
Application process: Masters, Education Specialists, and Doctoral candidates may download the application found here: 3MT Competitor Application. Submit your application electronically to Lynnette Christensen at firstname.lastname@example.org by the deadline. Competition process: All applications will be reviewed by a committee of judges. The top 12 applicants will be invited to present at the competition. Refreshments will be served.
MSE Awards include:
1st place: $500
2nd place: $300
3rd place: $200
BYU Competition: Individual BYU colleges hold their own competitions near the beginning of winter semester to determine which two competitors (per college) will advance to the university-wide competition, which will be held Thursday, March 9th, 2017 from 11AM -12PM in the Varsity Theater.

Mentored Research Conference
Registration deadline: March 6, 2017, by 11:59pm
Poster Contest deadline: Contest participants must register by March 6th then submit a Powerpoint slide of their poster to email@example.com by March 11th at 11:59 pm.

Time: 4:00-5:30 pm
Location: WSC Ballroom
The conference is held each year to showcase research undergraduate and graduate students are doing with a faculty member in the McKay School. Presentations are poster style.
Each student who participates is given funding to produce a high quality color printed poster. All students are invited to participate.
Three awards will be given at the graduate level and three at the undergraduate level.
1st place $500 (awarded to student & faculty)
2nd place $300 (awarded to student & faculty)
3rd place $200 (awarded to student & faculty)
Who is required to participate?
The following requirements from the McKay School are the minimum. Each department has a set of requirements as well. Please contact your department for additional information.
1. Students who are being funded for work on research projects. (MSE, ORCA, MEG, MUR)
2. Students who are being funded as research assistants.
3. Masters, Educational Specialists, and Doctoral students who are not being paid for their research but their departments require their participation.
