Literacy Activity
Make a funny frame
- Cut a large frame out of cardboard or heavy paper, with a hole in the center large enough to frame the letter cards and picture cards.
- Attach the frame to a classroom whiteboard.
- Tell the children the frame belongs to a friend named Fran, and explain that Fran only wants things that begin with the letter F inside his funny frame.
- Have the children choose a picture card and decide whether the item belongs inside the frame.
- If the item starts with the /f/ sound, have the children place it inside Fran's frame using a magnet.
- If the item does not start with the /f/ sound, have the children discard it.
- Make a list of the pictures inside the frame.
- Emphasize that each word begins with the letter F, which makes the /f/ sound in the word frame.
