• Draw a ring on paper and put it on the floor or form a ring with a string.
• Have the children bring small things or drawings of springs and rings to the ring.
• Show the children how to gently fling a thing into the ring.
• Invite the children to swing and fling a thing into the ring.

Fling -ng words into the ring

• Write -ing words on pieces of paper (e.g, sing, swing, string, thing, bring, wing).
• Have the children choose a word and read it with support.
• Let the children swing and fling the -ing words into the ring.

Read Fling a Thing into a Ring text 

• Read the target text Fling a Thing into a Ring (see below) to the children.
• Have the children find the -ing words in the text.
• Reread the text, having the children repeat each line while walking around the ring.

Write about flinging things in the ring 

• Write a list of -ing words (e.g., fling, string, swing, ring, thing, bring, sing).
• Have the children make up sentences using -ing words (e.g., “I like to fling a thing into a ring”).
• Write the sentences for the children to read.
