State and Model the Objective
Tell the children that they will shop for objects that start with the /sh/ sound as they listen for words that start with /sh/, such as shoe, sheet, shorts, and shirt.

Literacy Activities
Shop at the /sh/ shop 

• Set up a shop with the /sh/ picture cards or objects and give each child some pretend money for the activity
• Help the children identify each of the items in the /sh/ shop, pointing out that they all begin with /sh/.
• Go through the items in the shop again and have the children hold up a pretend dollar every time they hear a word that begins with the /sh/ sound.
• Let each child shop for different /sh/ picture cards or objects using his or her money. 
• Help each child repeat the phrase, “I am shopping for (a) sh___,” as he or she pays for an item.
