State the Objective
Tell the children that they will go on a T train tour as they recognize and name the letter T/t.
Literacy Activities
Find a T for a ticket on the tour
- Write and name the letters T and t.
- Have the children write T and t in the air with their fingers.
- Have the children write Ts on small pieces of paper for tickets to the train tour.
Take a ride on the T tour
- Have one child be the ticket taker and collect T tickets for the T train.
- Set up chairs in rows like train seats and have the children take their seats on the train.
- Tell the children that the T Train Tour will pretend to stop at a few terrific places.
- Have the children pretend they stop at each location:
- The T Train stops in a forest with tall trees!
- The T Train takes a stop at a twirly tunnel!
- The T Train takes a stop at Twinkle Town!
- The T Tour stops at a turtle trail!
- The T TrainTour takes a stop at a tiny treehouse!
- The T Train stops at a treasure tower!
Find the Ts
- Tell the children they will find more Ts on a paper.
- Display the page of mixed up letters (see below), and have the children find and tap each T/t.
- Have the children say, “Tap a T!” every time they find a T/t.
