How to Apply

  1. Go to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints home page.
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. Go to the English Literacy Church Service Missionary application page.
  4. Review the contents of the page. Note - ages 25 and older are eligible to serve. 
  5. To apply, click on "Submit." Fill in the form. 
  6. Let your bishop know you have applied and ask him to look for your application.
  7. Interview with your bishop.
  8. Interview with your stake president.
  9. Approval by stake president.
  10. Receive word from stake presidency for setting apart (no notification to you from Church headquarters). 
  11. Setting apart by a member of the stake presidency.
  12. Wait to be contacted by: Amy Crofts, Literacy Program Specialist, Humanitarian Services Division, Welfare and Self-Reliance Services.
  13. Start as an English Literacy Church Service Missionary.
  14. Join the BYU Education Society Literacy page — share your stories, best practices, and ask questions.
