Communication Disorders
The Department of Communication Disorders (ComD) offers an undergraduate pre-professional major in audiology and speech-language pathology, as well as a master's degree in speech-language pathology. The program prepares students to meet all certification, credentialing, and licensure requirements for professional practice.
Counseling Psychology and Special Education
The Department of Counseling Psychology and Special Education (CPSE) facilitates positive growth for children, youth, and adults by maximizing the potential of diverse learners who have individualized educational needs in order to elevate their quality of life. The department offers a collaborative, evidence-based approach to serving individuals with diverse strengths and needs. Students enrolled pursue careers as school psychologists, counselors, and special education teachers.
Educational Inquiry, Measurement and Evaluation
The purpose of the interdepartmental program Educational Inquiry, Measurement and Evaluation is to prepare PhDs who have the knowledge, expertise, experience, and character traits needed to work productively as researchers, evaluators, policy analysts, assessment specialists, and/or professors in a variety of settings. Graduates with this doctorate are expected to be proficient in conceptualizing substantive issues in terms that are amenable to inquiry and in applying their inquiry expertise to contribute to knowledge in these areas and lead to improvements in educational theory and practice.
Educational Leadership and Foundations
The Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations (EDLF) prepares educational leaders who have a vision and a compelling sense of purpose for continuous improvement of schools and learning for all students. Candidates in the graduate programs will acquire the knowledge and skills to motivate, lead, and facilitate high levels of learning for all students and teachers. Graduates from this department typically pursue careers as school administrators, principals, vice principals, and other leaders in the field of education.
Instructional Psychology and Technology
The Department of Instructional Psychology and Technology (IP&T) prepares students with the knowledge, methods, and technologies necessary for disciplined research into instructional issues. Students learn to improve instruction and to understand the principles that govern improvements occurring in education, church, government, business, and military settings, as well as in applications appropriate for museum, online, and in-home educational experiences.
Teacher Education
The Department of Teacher Education (TEd) prepares competent, caring, and reflective teachers who will facilitate the growth and development of children and youth in school settings. Degrees are offered in early childhood, elementary, and physical education.
