Belonging Field Trips were a new initiative piloted and set forth by the McKay School of Education to instill and cultivate feelings of belonging among participants. Participating students prepared to performed research through a gospel lens, and were challenged to illustrate how covenant belonging can be created and nurtured by enacting the doctrine of belonging.
“We hope you will consecrate, or make holy, the time you spend while on this field trip,” Hall-Kenyon wrote in a letter to students. “Our hope is that, as we pilot these field trips, they will provide great learning opportunities for each of you individually and for us as a college as we seek ways to build and instill greater feelings of belonging, and stronger relationships with our Savior, Jesus Christ, for all.”
These field trips align with the vision and mission of the McKay School that encourages all associated with the school to consider the eternal and spiritual nature of their work there at the school and BYU.
These experiences demonstrate how we are all needed to bring about the great work of gathering and belonging.
