Utah Conference on Undergraduate Research (UCUR)
Each year students and mentors from across Utah gather to share academic, research, and creative activities with oral presentations and posters. Weber State University is hosting the conference in 2019, and MSE students and their mentors are encouraged to participate. BYU will cover the expense of the conference registration and transportation (chartered bus) for all students presenting as well as for any faculty mentors who attend.

McKay School of Education 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Presentation Competition
Proposal deadline: January 29, 2019 by 11:58 p.m.
Competition date: February 19, 2019
Time: 4:00-5:30 p.m.
Place: MCKB 185
Application process: Masters, Education Specialists, and Doctoral candidates may download the application found here: 3MT Competitor Application. Submit your application electronically to Lynnette Christensen at email@example.com by the deadline. Competition process: All applications will be reviewed by a committee of judges. The top 12 applicants will be invited to present at the competition. Refreshments will be served.
MSE Awards include:
1st place: $500
2nd place: $300
3rd place: $200
BYU Competition: Individual BYU colleges hold their own competitions to determine one competitor who will advance to the university-wide competition.

Time: 11 a.m.-12 a.m.

Mentored Research and Experiential Learning Conference
The conference is held each year to showcase research undergraduate and graduate students are doing with a faculty mentor in the McKay School. Conference attendees may choose to participate in the mentored research poster contest when they register for the conference. Presentations are poster style and each student who chooses to participate in the conference is given funding to produce a high quality color printed poster (see poster guidelines below). All students are invited to participate.
Conference Registration deadline (all participants must register): February 26, 2019 by 11:59 p.m.
Poster Contest Submission deadline: Students who wish to participate in the poster contest at the conference must submit a PDF slide of their poster to firstname.lastname@example.org by March 9, 2019 by 11:59 p.m. *Note: You do not have to participate in the contest to present your poster in the conference.
Conference and Competition date: Tuesday, March 26, 2019
Time: 4:00-5:30 p.m.
Location: WSC Ballroom
Awards will be given at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Faculty must be present at the awards ceremony to receive their award.
1st place: $500 student and $500 faculty mentor
2nd place: $300 student and $300 faculty mentor
3rd place: $200 student and $200 faculty mentor
Honorable Mention: $100 student and $100 faculty mentor
Who is required to participate?
The following requirements from the McKay School are the minimum. Each department has a set of requirements as well. Please contact your department for additional information.
1. Students who are being funded for work on research projects. (MSE, ORCA, MEG, MUR)
2. Students who are being funded as research assistants.
3. Masters, Educational Specialists, and Doctoral students who are not being paid for their research but their departments require their participation.
