Literacy Activities
Move feet to a beat down a street
- Set up a pretend street with strips of paper, blocks, masking tape, or chalk.
- Have the children trace their feet on paper and place their paper feet along the street.
- Let the children beat their own feet down the street to a beat.
- Chant the target text Beat Your Feet Down the Street (see below) with the children.
Meet and greet on a street
- Have the children write and pass out invitations that say “Meet and greet on the street.”

Eat a treat on a sheet

- Say, “It is fun to meet and eat a treat on a sheet.”
Recognize two ways to write the long e (ee and ea)
- Involve the children in making a list of words that end in the spellings -eat or -eet.
- Place the words in two columns: -eet and -eat.
Write about meeting and greeting on a street
- Display the list of words ending in eet or eat.
