State the Objective
Tell the children that they will create caterpillars using the letter C as they recognize and name the letters C and c.
Literacy Activities
Create a caterpillar
- Write and name the letters C and c.
- Read the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle (optional).
- Have the children trace the letter C on the body of the caterpillar (see below) using different colored markers or crayons.
- Let the children put together cut-out Cs (see below) to make a caterpillar creep, climb, and crawl.
Write the target letter
- Write several letters (mostly C) or print the letter tracing page (see below).
- Have the children identify and trace each letter C.
- Have the children copy the letter C using a pencil or different colored crayons.
