  • Treats (e.g., licorice, taffy, pretzel sticks)
  • Plates or napkins

     

  • Large letter cards*

State the Objective
Tell the children that they will make some tasty treats as they recognize and name the letter T/t.

Literacy Activities
Tasty Treats

  • Write and name the letter T/t.
  • Have the children write T and t in the air with their fingers.
  • Have the children write Ts on small pieces of paper.
  • Allow the children to place their Ts by the tasty treats. 
  • Have the children wash their hands, then let the children place a large letter card (see below) on a plate or nap

    kin. 

  • Introduce and pass out “Teacher’s Tasty Treats” to the children (e.g., licorice, taffy, or pretzels).
  • Let the children turn their tasty treats into the shape of T and t by twisting, turning, and breaking them to cover 

    the letters on the large letter card. 

  • Allow the children to eat their tasty treats. 

Identify and write the target letter

  • Write a variety of letters , with the majority of them being the letter T/t, and let the children circle the letter T/t.

     

  • Have them children write the letter T/t on their plate or napkin.
