Program Overview
The Educational Inquiry, Measurement, and Evaluation (EIME) PhD at Brigham Young University prepares scholars who combine rigorous inquiry with doctrines of the gospel of Jesus Christ to improve educational opportunities for all of God’s children.
Graduates develop the knowledge, expertise, and character needed to serve as educational researchers, policy analysts, evaluators, and professors. Students are prepared to work in diverse settings- including universities, governments agencies, school systems, research organizations, and non-profit institutions.

Rooted in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, the program emphasizes disciplined inquiry as an expression of faithful scholarship. Students develop skills in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods to investigate complex educational challenges, generate meaningful insights, and inform policy and practice in ways that reflect the divine worth of every learner.
Prerequisites

In order to be eligible for the program, you must:
- Earn a Bachelor’s degree
- Provide GRE test scores (LSAT and GMAT also accepted)
- Demonstrate competency in basic statistics
- Have education related experience and background
- Research experience is preferred

How to Apply
Admissions for the EIME PhD program have been temporarily paused. Admissions will resume Fall 2027
- Complete graduate application form, available here.
- Test scores (GRE, TOEFL/E3PT for non-native speakers)
- Offical transcripts of all previous college and university studies
- Completed Master’s Degree required
- Letter of intent including career goals and reason for applying, along with any related coursework completed and any prior experience in education research, evaluation, or measurement projects.
- 3 letters of recommendation
- Completed Ecclesiastical Endorsement form
