STEAM on with Seuss

Session 2: Grades K-3

Enjoy some time in this hands-on building, sketching, and planning workshop. We will help you to unleash the transformative potential of integrating the stories of Dr. Seuss with STEAM. We will present ways to develop units that include some simple engineering projects and are aligned with Utah Core Standards in Literacy, Math, Science, and Art.

Lisa Fenn

Lisa Fenn is a seasoned teacher who has spent the last several years developing engaging, integrated lessons that combine her passion for Science with Literacy, Mathematics, and the Arts using 21st Century Learning Skills. She shares her knowledge and expertise with colleagues through various professional development opportunities, while continuing to work in the classroom. Lisa has developed curriculum for, and taught at, STEAM Summer Camps for students K-6 through Utah Valley University as well as after school clubs and family night events focusing on STEAM disciplines and 21st Century Learning. Lisa has a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and educational endorsements in English as Second Language (ELS) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Education. She is currently working towards an Arts Integration endorsement through Brigham Young University.

 

Mark Gatto

Mark Gatto

Mark has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master’s degree in Literacy and has worked as an educator for over 18 years, combining his love of Art, Literacy, and Science to create enjoyable, engaging, and inspiring units that help kids experience the connections between these disciplines. For the last several years he has been involved in developing and teaching integrated engineering experiences at STEAM summer camps, after school STEAM clubs, and STEAM family nights. Mark is currently working on his Arts Integration Leadership Endorsement through BYU.
